UES Hit-And-Run Victim's Family Wants Justice: Report

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — The devastated family of the pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run on the Upper East Side early Friday morning is calling for justice after the driver was granted supervised release, according to the New York Daily News.

The victim, Terrill Jenkins, 44, was walking in the vicinity of Lexington Avenue and East 61st Street when a driver hit him and then sped off, just before 5 a.m. on Friday.

"We want justice," Peter Mulligan, the victim's uncle, told the New York Daily News, adding that his family wants to see the security camera footage of what happened.

“We want to know exactly what took place,” Evelyn Jenkins, the victim's mother, told the New York Daily News.

The victim, who lived in Harlem, sustained severe trauma to his body and was rushed to NewYork Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

According to the NYPD, 33-year-old Vincent Spano turned himself in and was arrested on Friday and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and failing to use due care, resulting in a serious injury.

Later on Friday, Spano was granted supervised release in Manhattan Criminal Court and is next due in court on May 6.
