• State Officials Share Video Of Manta Ray Spotted Off Jones Beach (patch.com) — Beachgoers in Wantagh have another remarkable wildlife story as state environmental officials share video of a large oceanic manta ray feeding just off Jones Beach. The rare visitor, which can grow to over 4,000 pounds and live 40 years, appeared weeks after a shark-related incident at nearby Lido Beach, though officials reported no injuries from this latest sighting.
