2 Fundraisers Started For Residents Affected By Large Inwood Fire
"35 adults and 16 children have been displaced and many have lost everything," an author of one of the GoFundMe campaigns wrote.

INWOOD, NY — Family members and neighbors launched two GoFundMe campaigns on Wednesday for residents displaced by a devastating fire Tuesday night in Inwood.
The blaze sparked around 7 p.m. on the top floor of a six-floor residential building at 74 Post Avenue, burning for almost four hours before 138 firefighters could put out the flames.
Thankfully no residents were hurt in the flames, though two firefighters were hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. While there weren't devastating injuries, multiple apartments within the Inwood building were left in ashes.

The first campaign, called "Lost Apartment in Inwood NYC Fire," was created by the children of a mother who lived in the 74 Post Avenue building before the flames took everything.
"Flames that destroyed my mother's home, our childhood memories but most importantly her safe haven and sanctuary," wrote Julia Peralta, the author of the GoFundMe. "Not only have we lost our home but we are living in the midst of a pandemic, an already painful and unprecedented time. My mom is very kind and one of the most loving souls you will ever meet."
The campaign has a $10,000 goal and has raised $1,730 as of midday Thursday.
The second GoFundMe campaign is called "Fire on Post Ave in Washington Heights," and it was organized by neighbors of the burned Inwood building and the Juan Pablo Duarte Foundation.
"Last night our neighbors at 74-78 Post Avenue suffered a devastating fire. 35 adults and 16 children have been displaced and many have lost everything," the authors of the GoFundMe wrote..."Due to concerns with COVID-19, we are not taking material donations and instead ask our community to be as generous as possible given the hard financial realities we are all facing."
The campaign has a $20,000 goal and has raised $1,505 as of midday Thursday.
The flames were seen for miles in either direction on Tuesday night.
