The "Hamilton" superstar and Washington Heights native will purchase a new projection system for the United Palace theater.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Lin-Manuel Miranda, the superstar creator of "Hamilton," and a Washington Heights native will donate $100,000 for one of the neighborhoods largest cultural centers.
Miranda will purchase a brand-new projection system for the United Palace, and will debut the new system during an Oct. 16 screening of the original "Mary Poppins," according to the United Palace website. The new DCP projection system will enhance the United Palace as a venue for screening films.
The choice to screen "Marry Poppins" is significant, as Miranda has been cast to co-star with Emily Blunt in a reboot of the film. Miranda will be temporarily moving to London to film the movie, according to the United Palace website.
