Wine Bar With Farm-To-Table Food Opens In Inwood

Tannat Wine & Cheese celebrated its opening night Monday on Broadway and Thayer Street.

INWOOD, NY — A new wine bar and farm-t0-table restaurant has opened in Inwood, the businesses owners announced on social media.

Tannat Wine & Cheese started serving what owners call its selection of "S.N.O.B.S" wine Monday night out of its new location on Broadway between Arden and Thayer streets. All of the wines are sustainable, natural, organic, biodynamic and come from small lots (hence the S.N.O.B.S), according to the business' website.

The new business is a venture by William Emery and Sarah Goler. The partners had attempted to raise money for the business on the crowdfunding website Kickstarter, but fell short of goal, according to the funding campaign.

"We're food and wine revolutionaries," read the Kickstarter page. "Through exploring natural wines, ancient techniques of preservation, genuinely local ingredients grown and raised and caught and foraged by real human beings dedicated to the health of the earth, by changing our menu daily, and by sharing our profits with our employees, we are more than a wine bar with small plates."

Tannat Wine & Cheese operates out of an intimate space with seating for about 30 people, the business owners wrote.

A sample menu on the restaurant's website lists a wide variety of red, white, rosé, sparkling and desert wines as well as beet and non-alcoholic drinks. The sample food menu emphasizes cheese and meat boards but is rounded out by small plates and desserts.

The new business is open from 4 p.m. to midnight on Mondays through Thursdays, and 4 p.m.-1 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Brunch will also be served on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., according to the business website.
