Hampton Bays Elementary School Hosts Annual Anti-Bullying Poster Contest

As part of its mission to ensure that all students feel safe from bullying so they can thrive academically, the Hampton Bays Elementary School hosted its fifth annual schoolwide anti-bullying poster contest as part of Bullying Prevention Month.

The contest, which was overseen by the school’s speech, psychology and occupational therapy departments, asked all students to create a poster on the theme of how to recognize, deal with and prevent bullying.

This year’s winner was Morgan Elizabeth Cowden from Kelley Davide’s third-grade class. Honorable mentions included Erick Castro-Sanchez, Mason DeRosa, Emily Gonzalez Tlapanco, Kevin Guzman, Christopher Johnson, Cristian Kearns, Emma Magnozzi, Riley Mitchell, Jake Naclerio, Minal Naeem, Joffre Proano, Brianna Quiros, Marilyn Ramos, Sherlyn Saavedra, Allison Sequeria, Metzli Vasquez and Valentina Vega.

In addition to participating in the poster contest, students recited an anti-bullying pledge and anti-bullying rules. They also all attended a Citizen of the Month assembly where selected students were recognized for exhibiting exemplary characteristics of citizenship.
