Accused Yorktown Porch Pirate Faces Additional Charges

He was arrested in December but was arrested again when he showed up to court.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Mohegan Lake man, who was arrested in December for allegedly stealing packages off a porch, faces additional charges. Yorktown Police said Leisvel Gonzalez-Lopez, 24, of Lookout Street in Mohegan Lake, was charged with three counts of fifth-degee criminal possession of stolen property, misdemeanors.

During December, Yorktown police were investigating reports of package deliveries being stolen from homes in Yorktown. Gonzales-Lopez was located and identified as being responsible for stealing the packages, and a search warrant was obtained for his residence.

Police said that numerous items reported stolen were recovered during execution of the search warrant.

Gonzales-Lopez appeared in Yorktown Justice Court Jan. 11 to answer the charge of petit larceny, a misdemeanor, for which he was arrested Dec. 19.

The homeowner from whom Gonzales-Lopez allegedly stole packages was able to provide police with a video of the incident.

During the court appearance, Gonzales-Lopez was arrested on the new counts of possession of stolen property and was sent to the Westchester County Jail on $10,000 bail.

He is scheduled to appear back in Yorktown Justice Court Jan. 25.
