Lakeland will spread the money out over several years. “Since technology is always changing, the district's technology plan will be reviewed annually and adjusted as needed to address these changes,” explained Dwayne Hoffmann, Director of Information Technology.
“The district views technology as a resource that has the capacity to transform learning,” said Linda Brandon, Director of Instructional Technology. “Over the next few years the district's plan will ensure a device for every student. Anytime, anywhere learning with technology will be possible, “she added.
Even though these funds can't be used for professional development, the district is committed to increasing our professional development opportunities to support the new technology, said Hoffmann.
The District's infrastructural needs are being addressed through the 2013 Safety Bond this summer so the funding is being aimed at classroom and instruction. A committee composed of representatives from throughout the district worked for several months on development of the plan.
