Lakeland Schools Calendar 2015-16

The new school year begins in 15 days. Here are dates you need to know.

You may be thinking about how many more days you can go to the beach, but the first day of school is just around the corner. With that in mind, here are important dates for the 2015-16 school year in the Lakeland school district.

First day of school: Sept. 2

Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Sept. 14, 15

Yom Kippur (school closed): Sept. 23

Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 12

Election Day, Superintendent Conference Day (school closed): Nov. 3

Veterans Day (no school): Nov. 11

Thanksgiving recess (school closed): Nov. 25-27

Holiday recess: Dec. 24-Jan. 1 (school resumes Jan. 4)

Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 18

Presidents’ Day (school closed): Feb. 15

Superintendent’s Conference Day (school closed): Feb. 16

Spring recess: March 21-28

Superintendent’s Conference Day: April 21

Schools closed: April 22

Memorial Day recess (school closed): May 27-30

Last day of school: June 23

SNOW MAKE-UP DATES: During the 2015-2016 school year, the District has allotted five snow days. Should school closings exceed those days, additional snow make-up days are: February 16, April 21, May 27, April 22, and March 28. If necessary, Superintendent’s Conference days may become regular days of attendance. If it becomes necessary, the June 23, 24 and 25 shortened schedule days may need to be altered in order to meet New York State attendance guidelines.
