Senior Day at Lakeland Copper Beech MS

It was the spring version of “Seniors Go to the Beech Day” at Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School in May as students and staff welcomed area senior citizens for a day of music, discussion and lunch.
Senior citizens from the Yorktown Heights Senior Center and the Seabury Assistive Living facility were invited to a luncheon where our students interviewed them and discussed a variety of topics with them. The first “Go to the Beech Day” was held in December. The conversations included what school was like in their day and how the community has changed over the past few decades.
Following the luncheon, our distinguished guests were treated to performances by the Flute Choir, 8th Grade Chamber Orchestra and 7th Grade Chamber Orchestra. “Go to the Beech Day” concluded with parting gifts prepared by Mrs. Spano’s and Mrs. Flaherty’s classes.

Once again, this event brought our students and senior citizens together, many for a second time this school year. The event was again coordinated by David DiMeo and the Site Based Team. “New friendships were formed and others renewed. It was great day for everyone involved and we look forward to continuing this event in the future,” said Principal Robert Bergmann.
