WWII Vet Brings History to Life at Lakeland HS
History students at Lakeland High School had the rare opportunity to glimpse a significant part of our nation's history up close.
History students at Lakeland High School had the rare opportunity to glimpse a significant part of our nation's history up close with the visit to the school by World War II Veteran Dave Mann this week. The 91-year-old spoke to students about his experiences during and after the war in the auditorium at the school. His appearance was made possible through the generosity of the Yorktown Rotary, who brought him to Lakeland Thursday (March 3).
A winner of the Purple Heart, Mann is the author of a memoir about WW II - What I Fought For An Aging Veteran's Love Letter to America. He spent more than an hour talking about his life, answering questions from students and reading from his book.
