• NC Lottery Powerball, Pick 3 Day results for Aug. 22, 2026 (shelbystar.com) — If you bought a lottery ticket around Asheville, you can now check the Aug. 22 Powerball, Pick 3, Pick 4, and Millionaire for Life numbers and see if you've won. Winners over $599 can claim prizes at the Asheville Regional Office on Regent Park Boulevard, which cashes prizes up to $99,999 on weekdays. Mail-in and other statewide claim options are also outlined.

• No.1 an honor for Christ School football (wlos.com) — A longstanding Christ School football tradition in nearby Arden makes jersey No. 1 a coveted honor for the player who best embodies leadership, unselfishness, and discipline. This season, teammates overwhelmingly chose senior linebacker Logan Woolsey, praised for including classmates who sit alone. Coaches hope younger Greenies now see No. 1 as a daily standard, not just a flashy number.

• New Details Reveal What Happened Before Buckcherry's Tour Bus Crash (entertainmentnow.com) — Buckcherry's tour bus was involved in a multi-vehicle crash on I-26 while traveling from a show at Asheville's Orange Peel, but all band and crew members were unharmed. Authorities say three separate crashes occurred, with one person killed in an earlier collision unrelated to the bus. Investigations into the initial and five-vehicle crashes are still ongoing.
