• Multi-Agency Carryout Rescues Hiker With Allergic Reaction on Hebron Falls Trail (wataugaonline.com) — Emergency crews, including the Blowing Rock Fire Department, helped rescue a hiker suffering a serious allergic reaction on the Hebron Falls Trail on July 4. Responders used a multi-agency carryout to get the patient out safely and remind residents that texting 911 is an option when calls aren’t possible, but you must stay put so rescuers can find you. 
• 'Restoring safety, dignity and hope': World Changers repair High Country homes (wataugademocrat.com) — Student volunteers with World Changers and WAMY Community Action recently repaired storm-damaged and aging homes across Watauga County, helping elderly and low-income residents regain safety and dignity. Several Boone-area churches and First Baptist Blowing Rock provided meals, facilities, and support for the crews. Organizers say the four-day effort not only fixed roofs, decks, and interiors, but also restored homeowners’ confidence and community connection.
