Art in the Park returns to Blowing Rock for its 64th season (wataugademocrat.com) — Art in the Park is coming back to downtown Blowing Rock with six Saturday dates from May through October, filling Park Avenue with fine art and handcrafted goods. The free, rain-or-shine event includes shuttle service, plus Sunday concerts in Memorial Park, making it an easy full-weekend outing for residents and visitors.
   

2. 2026 Leadership Challenge Class completes community project in Blowing Rock (wataugademocrat.com) — Blowing Rock’s 2026 Leadership Challenge class has wrapped up its community project by funding, building, and installing six new picnic tables for local use. Four tables now serve students and families at Blowing Rock School, while two enhance gathering space at Blue Ridge Conservancy, all supported by local businesses and the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce.
   

3. Hardin Park educator named WCS Teacher of the Year (wataugademocrat.com) — Blowing Rock families will be glad to know Carrie Ingram of Blowing Rock School has been named one of Watauga County Schools’ 2026-27 Teachers of the Year, alongside overall winner Meghan Scott from Hardin Park. The countywide banquet at Meadowbrook Inn honored standout educators from every school and highlighted the relationships and classroom experiences that make a lasting difference for local students.
   

4. Watauga, Avery Obituaries – May 12th, 2026 (hcpress.com) — Blowing Rock readers will recognize Judith Sue Coffey Wesson, born and raised in town, whose life of social work and service is being honored with a May 16 celebration in Boone. A shared obituary list also remembers longtime local educator Lois Strickland, former commissioner Phil Smalling, and several other High Country residents with upcoming services and memorial details for friends and neighbors.
