First Friday Art Crawl in Boone Set for this Week (whky.com) — Downtown Boone is gearing up for the First Friday Art Crawl on June 5, with galleries, restaurants, and venues hosting art-making, live music, and special events into the evening. From King Street artists and Jones House concerts to jazz collages and disco night, residents can explore local creativity while supporting Boone’s arts community.
   

2. Heart of a Pioneer continues to grow with strong turnout (wataugademocrat.com) — Boone families with student-athletes can still get free sports physicals thanks to the Heart of a Pioneer event and ongoing exams at Mercy Urgent Care on Watauga Village Drive. Watauga High’s HOSA students, local health providers, and county agencies teamed up to offer physicals, EKGs, concussion baselines, and flexibility screenings so athletes are cleared and ready for the 2026–27 season.
   

3. WHS, WIA seniors recipients of $5 million in scholarships (wataugademocrat.com) — Boone’s Watauga High School and Watauga Innovative Academy seniors just celebrated roughly $5 million in scholarships during a ceremony at Ross Auditorium. More than 100 awards, many from Boone and Watauga County organizations, highlighted strong community support and may be joined by additional scholarships announced in the coming weeks.
   

4. Boone kicks off Pride Month with flag raising, proclamation (wataugademocrat.com) — Boone has officially proclaimed June 2026 as Pride Month and raised the Pride flag at Town Hall, while also condemning anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and federal rollbacks of DEI efforts. Local restaurant Lost Province is marking the month with special lavender-themed menu items, Pride trivia, and fundraising support for next year’s Boone Pride festival.
