I am reaching out because I have made it my mission to help seniors and their families navigate one of life's more meaningful transitions — when living at home begins to feel less safe or manageable than it once did. I know this territory personally. I walked it with my own mother, and more recently with my wife's mom. It is rarely straightforward, and it is almost always emotional. That experience is what led me to become a Certified Senior Transition Specialist. What I offer is comprehensive and completely pro bono — that is, free of charge to you. Can she remember to lock the front door? What about the thermostat? Has she taken her meds today? Who can stay with her? When family pitches in, they average 20 hours per week. Solution? Senior living communities answer many important needs: •	Nutrition: 3 meals a day with no dishes to wash. •	Safety: Front door opens into the hallway of the community. Help with meds. •	Transportation: Community provides transportation to medical appointments, shopping and outings. •	Social: Familiar company at meals. A variety of activities including gardening, crafts and music. Which senior living community best fits her needs? Which senior living communities will accept her? I am a Senior Transition Specialist and I collaborate with value-based care expert, Tu Tu Cares. I have toured dozens of communities and have friends who are residents. My value-add includes guidance with needs assessment; comparing costs; timing of rate increases; what to ask/notice while touring. I can recommend specialists in powers-of-attorney, guardianship, veterans’ benefits, decluttering and move management. To defray the costs, I can even look at the suitability of expeditiously selling a family home about to be vacated. My services are complimentary.
