Students Graduate from WCC's Truck Driver Training Program (goldsborodailynews.com) — Wayne Community College in Goldsboro has celebrated 13 new graduates of its Truck Driver Training program, many of them local residents now entering a high-demand field. Graduates earned commercial driver's licenses, heard encouragement from WCC leaders, and learned they can expect strong starting salaries, with the next evening-and-weekend course beginning Sept. 1.

Dethroned Miss North Carolina USA claims defamation against pageant, CEO (courthousenews.com) — A lawsuit filed out of Goldsboro claims the former Miss North Carolina USA was wrongly stripped of her 2026 crown over her conservative Christian political posts. She's suing the Miss USA organization and state pageant directors for alleged defamation and lost opportunities, arguing they acted with malice and misrepresented an apology statement she says she never approved.
