Court Roundup: Man sentenced to 20-25 years for second-degree murder (reflector.com) — A Greenville man has been sentenced to 20–25 years for a 2022 second-degree murder, a case solved through Greenville police forensics, traffic cameras, and DNA evidence. The Pitt County DA also detailed long prison terms in a high-speed cocaine trafficking case and a Greenville-area fentanyl and heroin investigation. Together, the sentences highlight ongoing regional efforts to tackle violent crime and drug trafficking.

Anderson named Greenville police deputy chief (reflector.com) — Greenville residents have a new deputy police chief, as longtime officer David Anderson has been promoted after more than 20 years with the Greenville Police Department. Anderson, who moved to Greenville in 1992 and teaches at ECU, brings extensive leadership and training experience that city officials say will help guide patrol operations and department policy across the community.
   

3. WARRANTS: Greenville man charged after strangling mother of his child (witn.com) — A Greenville man has been jailed after police say he strangled the mother of his child, causing her to lose consciousness. The 24-year-old suspect was arrested Saturday and is charged with felony assault by strangulation and a misdemeanor domestic violence offense. He's being held at the Pitt County Detention Center with a first court appearance set for Monday.
   

4. NC Lottery Mega Millions, Pick 3 Day results for Sept. 18, 2026 (shelbystar.com) — If you bought a lottery ticket in Greenville, you can now check the Sept. 18 Mega Millions, Pick 3, Pick 4, Cash 5, Double Play, and Millionaire for Life numbers and see if you've won. Winners over $599 can claim prizes at the Greenville Regional Office on Dickinson Avenue or by mail, while smaller prizes can be redeemed at any retailer statewide.
   

5. Craven County CARTS Offering Transportation to Greenville (newbernlive.org) — A new Greenville Express pilot route now offers coordinated rides into Greenville from Craven, Jones, Pamlico, Onslow, and Carteret counties, giving more people access to the city. Riders must reserve at least two days ahead, meet at New Bern Mall, and can travel to Greenville on Tuesdays through Thursdays, with fixed arrival and departure times and a set fare.
