He's sentenced (charlotteobserver.com) — A Pitt County jury has sentenced a man labeled a violent habitual felon to life in prison for a 2023 killing near Battle and Tyson streets in Greenville. Prosecutors say he fatally shot 35-year-old Antonio Bond outside a Greenville home and left his body in a trash can, with evidence undermining his self-defense claim as he now appeals the verdict. 
2. POLICE: Man 'tailgated' into ECU dorm with gun (witn.com) — ECU police say a non-student from Charlotte slipped into White and Clement residence halls in Greenville by following students inside and was later found with a handgun he'd carried into the dorms. Officers credit quick reporting by Campus Living staff for containing the situation and remind students to report suspicious behavior immediately; the suspect faces multiple gun and trespassing charges.
3. ECU, U.S. Army Reserve sign $6M agreement to expand predictive maintenance software (witn.com) — East Carolina University in Greenville has signed a 10-year agreement with the U.S. Army Reserve worth more than $6 million to expand its Piton predictive maintenance software.
