Here are the top five stories today in Raleigh:

  1. The owner of a mobile detailing business is asking for help from the public after his trailer was stolen from North Raleigh on Thursday. According to Daniel Hayes, the trailer contains 75% of the equipment they own for the business. The trailer was taken just a week after other detailing equipment had been stolen from his truck. Hayes believes that someone targeted him, knowing what they were taking. (abc11)
  2. On Saturday evening, a car wreck closed down part of Forestville Road in both directions. The 56-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Avalanche was driving impaired and overcorrected before hitting a tree and flipping the truck. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was charged with DWI and taken to a nearby hospital to be treated. (CBS17)
  3. Mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin emphasized the need for investment in transportation on Thursday, and many residents are echoing the sentiment. As Raleigh continues to grow, transportation is an important part of continuing that trajectory. The Triangle commuter railway has long been a topic of discussion, and is beginning to see more traction as GoTriangle hopes to present the study to the board in August. The City of Raleigh is also continuing their progress on the Bus Rapid Transit Program. (abc11)
  4. On Saturday, the B.R.A.K.E.S. teen driving program began in Raleigh. The school's name stands for "Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe," and it teaches real-life situations that teens could face behind the wheel. Courses include lessons on the importance of never driving distracted or impaired, skid control, and more. The proginvestment's in ram was designed to have the drivers practice things over and over so they are prepared when on the road. (CBS17)
  5. A Raleigh teen is under fire after falsifying allegations that her parents drugged and raped her. The teen made the accusations after a stay in the hospital after being treated for a kidney infection, and spread them on social media. The Wake County Department of Social Services investigated the claims that were substantiated by the teen's boyfriend and his mother, and found no validity to them. (TheNCBeat)
