The film follows a former white nationalist leader as he begins to confront his beliefs after connecting with a Muslim refugee doctor and the community in Clarkston, Georgia. Through their experiences, REFUGE looks at the roots of hate and what it can take to move past it.&nbsp; The screening will be followed by a discussion with local and national experts on how people and communities work through division, build trust, and find common ground.

A great bonding experience for a mother + child, join us and learn the basics of hand-stamping metal jewelry in this engaging workshop.
A great bonding experience for a mother + child, join us and learn the basics of hand-stamping metal jewelry in this engaging, hands-on class at Artspace. In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to the essential tools, materials, and techniques used in hand-stamped metal jewelry. Through demonstrations and guided practice, you’ll learn how to use metal stamps, hammer and customize your designs, and finish your pieces with professional results.
Each participant will create two metal cuff bracelets using aluminum blanks, one to keep and one to give! A variety of letters, numbers, and decorative symbols will be available so you can personalize your jewelry with meaningful words and patterns.
All tools and materials are provided. No experience necessary. The age for this workshop is suitable from pre-teen to 70+. Adult participants will also enjoy some refreshing mimosas, courtesy of Artspace.
Tickets are sold in pairs and include all materials and drinks. Participants are also welcome to bring their beverage of choice.

About the Instructor
HSIANG-TING YEN’S love of jewelry started at early age. Just like every little girl, she loved to play with her mother’s jewelry. She was drawn to the fun geometric shapes and the bold colors, especially the 80s clip resin earrings. Years later, she began to collect her own jewelry when she was in college. As a maker, she was fascinated with the idea of making her own jewelry and in 2006 she was introduced to “Beginning Metals and Jewelry” class in her junior year. As soon as she held that jeweler’s saw in her hand, she knew she had found her calling.
In 2012 she received her MA and MFA degrees in Metals and Jewelry from Savannah College of Art and Design. During the three and half year of her graduate school training she created one-of-kind jewelry not only for her loved ones but also for clients that she met at the Philadelphia Museum of Art craft shows. She enjoys the sense of achievement that comes from knowing how much joy her jewelry brings to her clients. She became absorbed with the challenge of problem-solving and brainstorming designs and making the jewelry. She didn’t want to stop, so in order to continuously share her passion with the world, she founded Raleigh-based HTY Jewelry in 2013.

Hub RTP Stage

On Saturday, May 9, between 3-5:30 p.m., make the most of the in-between by joining Hub RTP for its monthly mid-day performance at the Hub stage. This month, Concerts on the Creek features Too Phat Brass Band, known for celebrating the culture and traditions of New Orleans' Second Line Brass music. This event is free to attend and open to all. Free parking is located in the deck across the street at 3150 Elion Drive. When you arrive, walk through the outdoor breezeway to the courtyard and you will see the stage. House music begins at 2:30, with the performance starting at 3 p.m. There will be a brief intermission from 4-4:30 p.m. before the final set plays from 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Senior living communities answer many important needs: •	Nutrition: 3 meals a day with no dishes to wash. •	Safety: Front door opens into the hallway of the community. Help with meds. •	Transportation: Community provides transportation to medical appointments, shopping and outings. •	Social: Familiar company at meals. A variety of activities including gardening, crafts and music. Which senior living community best fits her needs? Which senior living communities will accept her? Which senior living options are affordable? The average cost of assisted living $5,500 per month. Who pays? (Hint: not Medicare.) What happens to the house? the contents? How best may a family stay informed of her status? Having worked through my mother’s increasing needs in aging and, more recently, those of my wife’s Mom, I assist adult children who, likewise, are realizing their Mom’s capacities are declining and needs are multiplying. I can recommend specialists in powers-of-attorney, guardianship, veterans’ benefits, decluttering and move management.
