• 9/11 Day of Service & 25th Anniversary Remembrance Event with Activate Good - Triangle on the Cheap (triangleonthecheap.com) — Raleigh residents are invited to join Activate Good's large 9/11 Day of Service and 25th Anniversary Remembrance at John Chavis Memorial Park on Friday, September 11. With morning and afternoon shifts, the city-supported event features commemorations, performances, local leaders' remarks, and hands-on volunteer projects aiding nonprofits and schools across the Triangle for adults and supervised youth ages 8 and up.
   

• Saint Paul AME Church marks 178-year milestone with National Register marker (abc11.com) — Saint Paul AME Church in downtown Raleigh has unveiled a new National Register marker, recognizing its 178-year legacy and role in early Freedmen's Conventions after the Civil War. Church leaders say the designation will support future restoration grants and ongoing community outreach, especially youth programs and historical research that preserve the congregation's impact on civil rights.
   

• Jenny Simpson grateful for return to Boulder after near-fatal cardiac arrest (denverpost.com) — An elite runner suffered sudden cardiac arrest while pacing a youth mile in Raleigh and survived thanks to quick CPR and an on-site defibrillator. Now based at Fleet Feet's Raleigh headquarters for work, she's recovering, redefining her life beyond competitive running, and hopes to encourage more bystanders everywhere to act during cardiac emergencies.
