1. Burning Coal Theatre Company And Raleigh Little Theatre To Showcase Tom Stoppard Plays (broadwayworld.com) — Raleigh theater fans can catch two Tom Stoppard productions this fall, with Burning Coal Theatre staging Travesties October 8–25 at the Murphey School and Raleigh Little Theatre presenting Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead October 23–November 8. Both companies share full schedules, prices, and discounts so you can plan affordable nights out close to home.
   

2. A big road construction project in North Raleigh gets done a year early (newsobserver.com) — Drivers in North Raleigh now have a fully rebuilt stretch of Louisburg Road open a year ahead of schedule, with new continuous-flow and reduced-conflict intersections aimed at easing congestion and improving safety. The project also widened U.S. 401 bridges over the Neuse River, so commuters should see fewer red lights and smoother traffic through this busy corridor.
   

3. Triangle drivers complained about fuel quality at 20 stations. What tests found (heraldsun.com) — If you recently filled up in Raleigh, inspectors just found water or phase-separated fuel at several Triangle gas stations, including Peace Street Family Fare and a Circle K on Louisburg Road. Sales of affected fuels were temporarily halted and have since resumed, but state inspectors urge drivers to report any fuel problems so every station can be checked at least yearly.
   

4. Police investigating fatal shooting Friday in Raleigh (newsobserver.com) — Raleigh police are investigating a fatal shooting on Brookbank Lane in northeast Raleigh that left 27-year-old Basadar Lawya St. Phard dead after he was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. One person was detained, questioned, and released without charges, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Raleigh Police or leave an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip.
   

5. JLF North Carolina Announces 2026 Festival Lineup (southasianherald.com) — Raleigh readers can look forward to JLF North Carolina bringing dozens of acclaimed writers, chefs, and thinkers to venues like Meredith College, NC State's Institute for Emerging Issues, and Raleigh Union Station from September 11–13. Sessions will explore democracy, poetry, neuroscience, food culture, and American history, connecting the Triangle's literary community with voices from India, the U.S., and beyond.
