📰 News we're reading

• Raleigh police investigate early Sunday shooting at Fayetteville Street nightclub (newsobserver.com) — Raleigh police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting at Alive Bar & Lounge on Fayetteville Street that left four people with non-life-threatening injuries. Officers say the gunfire followed a fight inside the nightclub, and no suspect details have been released yet. The incident comes amid 33 non-fatal shootings reported in Raleigh so far this year.

• Police: Raleigh woman was driving impaired with children in car when she hit and killed biker (wral.com) — A woman from Raleigh is facing charges including death by motor vehicle, impaired driving, and child abuse after a Friday-night crash in Wilmington that killed a 69-year-old bicyclist, according to police. Investigators say she was allegedly driving impaired with six young children in the car, none secured in proper safety seats, and is being held on a $400,000 secured bond.

• Where commercial real estate demand is the highest, according to new data (rocketnews.com) — Raleigh is singled out as the only major U.S. metro where commercial real estate demand is stronger now than during the 2022 pandemic peak, according to new National Association of Realtors data. While many once-booming markets like Austin and Miami have cooled, the index suggests Raleigh's economic momentum and property demand continue to outpace peers, especially compared with larger coastal cities.
