Police looking for Durham man wanted in chase, crash with Wake Forest officer (wral.com) — Wake Forest police are asking for help finding 47-year-old John Flowers Jr. of Durham, wanted after an Aug. 13 police chase that ended in a crash involving a Wake Forest officer. A bystander and child in another car had minor injuries, and Flowers now faces multiple traffic and fleeing charges plus questions about possible thefts at area home improvement stores.
   

2. 300-year-old tree causing turmoil in North Carolina neighborhood (myfox8.com) — A long-running dispute over a 300-year-old red oak on Wake Drive in Wake Forest is pitting neighbors against each other over how much of the historic tree can be trimmed. The tree's owner and an arborist say cutting it back to the property line could severely damage or even kill it, while the neighboring homeowner insists overhanging limbs are causing damage.
   

3. NCDMV issues RFP for office space in Wake Forest (wakeweekly.com) — A new NCDMV driver license office and co-located license plate agency are planned for the Wake Forest/Rolesville area, aiming to cut travel time and waits for local residents. The state has funded 10 new examiner positions, and property owners have until Sept. 11 to submit proposals for suitable office space in northeastern Wake County.
   

4. Downtown Raleigh death aftermath + Curfew debate: Triangle's top Monday stories (newsobserver.com) — State lawmakers have approved funding for a new DMV driver's license office that could land in Wake Forest or nearby Rolesville, potentially opening by early next year and easing long waits for local residents. The broader Triangle news roundup also covers Raleigh's youth curfew debate, a suicide ruling in a downtown death, and environmental and ranking stories from around the region.
