Wilmington Community Focus Groups to Launch The GRACE Study (news-usa.today) — Wilmington residents dealing with cancer are being invited to mid-month focus groups at Northside Church that will directly shape how local support services are designed. Hope Abounds Cancer Network and a UNCW researcher are using these sessions to capture real-world experiences and health disparities, helping guide future funding and cancer-care resources across Wilmington and New Hanover County.
   

2. Barclay West developer seeking to lift density cap on remaining land (portcitydaily.com) — A developer is asking Wilmington officials to lift a decade-old housing density cap on 12.25 acres at Barclay West near The Pointe, potentially allowing up to 208 units instead of 44. Planning commissioners have unanimously recommended the change, and city council's upcoming decision will shape how the last major piece of this mixed-use area grows and what housing options emerge there.
   

3. Sunday Edition: A Bridge to Sell You (whqr.org) — Wilmington's future Cape Fear Memorial Bridge is closing in on a final design and likely tolls, and city council is urgently pushing back against the most disruptive option. Local leaders are urging residents to weigh in during the current public comment period, as choices made in the next few months could shape traffic, neighborhood impacts, and commuting costs for decades.
   

4. Wilmington-shot film gets international premiere, to screen locally (starnewsonline.com subscription) — A Wilmington-shot feature film, "Capsized," is riding international buzz from its Edinburgh premiere and will screen locally during November's Cucalorus Film Festival. Two more Wilmington-connected movies, including a thriller set and filmed in town, will also play at venues like Thalian Hall, giving local film fans several chances to see homegrown work on the big screen.
   

5. Hundreds gather in Wilmington for first-ever Brick Convention (wwaytv3.com) — Families packed the Wilmington Convention Center this weekend for the city's first-ever Brick Convention, where kids and adults explored intricate Lego cities, ships, and spinning Earth models. Visitors could build their own creations, take classes, shop for sets, and support a charity that donates Lego to underprivileged children worldwide, giving Wilmington a colorful new family tradition.
