Civilians, Lower Merion Officers Get County Recognition For Heroic Deeds

Some civilians who acted selflessly in the Lower Merion area, as well as police officers, were honored by Montgomery County officials.

Several civilians and Lower Merion Township Police officers were recognized by Montgomery County officials Thursday at a ceremony at the Montgomery County Public Safety Training Campus. These individuals were honored for heroic deeds performed in the county.

A total of 34 civilians and law enforcement members from across the county and beyond were honored at the ceremony.

Officers Eric Fries and Vincenzo Tucciarone of the Lower Merion Township Police Department were commended for their quick-thinking actions that saved a man from committing suicide on train tracks in
Ardmore.

LMPD Officer Stephen Patton and King of Prussia resident Ronald Shields were commended for rescuing a trapped driver from a burning vehicle following a car crash in Gladwyne on Dec. 31, 2016.

Rachel Attebery, of Philadelphia, and Ryan Porto, of Havertown were honored for rescuing a trapped driver and her baby from a burning vehicle following an accident in Lower Merion Township.
