Also: A baby elephant is recovering from surgery, the Vietnam Memorial Wall comes to Butler County and more.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, PA — Like the rest of the country, the residents of the metro Pittsburgh area looked up to the sky Monday afternoon to catch a glimpse of the Great American Solar Eclipse of 2017.

But the news this past week didn't stop there. There were plenty of things happening around southwestern Pennsylvania, and the links below will help you catch up:

  • Residents of Cranberry Township and Butler County welcomed the arrival of the Vietnam Memorial Wall, a mockup of the wall in Washington, D.C., etched with the names of the fallen. The traveling exhibit will be on display at the Butler VA hospital until Sunday.
  • Ross Township approved a liquor license for the first Wahlburgers restaurant in the Pittsburgh area. The chain of gourmet hamburger places was launched by actors Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and their brother, Paul Wahlberg, the chain's executive chef.
  • Superstar Bruno Mars brought his musical tour Tuesday night to the PPG Paints Arena, but some fans were turned away at the door because their tickets turned out to be fake. How did this happen? Check out the story here.
  • A bank robber wore a wig Monday while sticking up a South Side bank, and the FBI and Pittsburgh police are looking for him. They're also looking for the robber who held up another South Side bank Thursday and was last seen running down East Carson Street.
  • A popular baby elephant at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is back on her feet after surgery to insert a feeding tube. She had lost weight due to teething problems, putting her health in danger, zoo officials said.
  • The quarterback of a local high school football team has been charged in a deadly shooting that took place Aug. 15 in Baldwin, say media reports. A second teen also faces charges in the shooting, which took the life of a 17-year-old.
