Headlining the news this week is the grand opening of Alto's Bakery and Caffe on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Warminster.
The cafe, whipped up by Bucks County's own Altomonte's Italian Market, the new cafe will offer free samplings, water ice, prizes, and if you're daring enough to try - a cannoli-eating contest where the winner will win free cannoli for a month, organizers said.

A 14,500 square foot luxury pet hotel has opened its doors at 11oo Horizon Circle in Chalfont (New Britain Township). Located at the intersection of County Line Road and Upper State Road, near Ark Animal Hospital and the Grand View Health Center, the newest five-star K9 Resort is owned and operated by Chalfont locals Kunal and Taarika Patel. Alto Bakery & Caffe Holding Grand Opening
Alto Bakery & Caffè —the spinoff business of the popular Italian market Altomonte's —is holding its grand opening on Saturday, Sept. 21. The cafe will offer free samplings, water ice, prizes, and a cannoli-eating contest where the winner will win free cannoli for a month, organizers said. The grand opening is at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the new establishment at 560 W. Street Rd. in Warminster. The bakery is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. From light and airy Roman pizza slices, savory focaccia, Italian sandwiches, flaky croissants, and soft cornetti, to real gelato, a proper espresso or a roasty cappuccino, the new caffe offers a convenient grab-and-go experience that fits into a busy lifestyle. Doylestown's Jersey Mike's To Donate To Kin Wellness
Jersey Mike's Sandwich Shop at The Cross Keys Place shopping center in Doylestown will donate 50 percent of its sales to the Kin Wellness and Support Center on Saturday, September 21 from opening at 10 a.m. to closing at 9 p.m. Jersey Mike’s Subs, with more than 2,500 locations nationwide, serves authentic fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs on in-store freshly baked bread — the same recipe it started with in 1956. A passion for giving is reflected in Jersey Mike’s mission statement: “Giving … making a difference in someone’s life.” According to Kin's executive director Keith Fenimore, Saturday's fundraiser "is an extension of Bucks County Eat, Drink and Be Merry Month. On Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. I am excited to share that Kin will receive 50 percent of any item purchased at the Doylestown store. New Neshaminy Mall Owners 'Dedicated' To Redevelopment
The new owners of the Neshaminy Mall are "dedicated" to redeveloping the site, the Bensalem Economic Development Corp. said. The BEDC said it recently met with the mall's new owners, Paramount Realty, which currently owns several other malls, including the neighboring Woodhaven Mall. "We are thrilled to report that the Neshaminy Mall has sold," the BEDC said. "The BEDC has met with the new owners who have strong ties to Bucks County, own several other properties in the area, and are dedicated to working with community members as plans develop for the space." The BDEC said the Neshaminy Mall has a long history in the community. "We look forward to future upgrades in, what is planned to be, a mixed-use space," the BDEC said. The BDEC said the initial community reaction has been positive as "there is hope our new business neighbors will breathe a much-needed revitalization into the community." Click here to read more.

PA Derby Ready To Run At Parx Racing Saturday
The Pennsylvania Derby & Cotillion Day —the biggest day in Pennsylvania thoroughbred racing —is ready to run on Saturday. The racing card at PARX Racing features 11 stakes races and three non-stakes races, offering more than $3.65 million in total purse money. Gates open at 10 a.m. and the first post is at 11:35 a.m. Two of the day’s featured races —the Pennsylvania Derby and the Cotillion Stakes —are each $1 million Grade I stakes races that typically serve as a showcase for high-caliber 3-year-old thoroughbreds seeking to secure a spot in the Breeders’ Cup World Championship in November. The Grade II Gallant Bob, a $400,000 stakes race for 3-year olds, is another feature of the event. In addition to the thrill of horse racing, attendees can enjoy live music from local band Bigg Romeo, a performance by the Mummers Uptown String Band, food and drink specials, and souvenir swag, including a commemorative hat giveaway while supplies last.
