Philadelphia Police: 'No Evidence' Cleveland Facebook Shooter Is In City

UPDATE: Police in Philadelphia say "there is no indication" Steve Stephens, the alleged "Cleveland Facebook Shooter, is in the city. Earlier Monday, Philadelphia Police confirmed they were searching the city's Fairmount Park section after numerous reports that Stephens was in the area. Nine area schools were on lockdown as a "precaution," according to police. The lockdowns have since been lifted.

Witnesses say they observed him at Belmont Plateau. However, Stephens is was not found at the plateau and there is no evidence he's "anywhere within the city of Philadelphia," police said in a statement.

The search for an "armed and dangerous" homicide suspect from Ohio who allegedly posted a video to Facebook showing the killing of a 74-year-old man has expanded to Pennsylvania, according to authorities.

Steve Stephens allegedly attacked Robert Godwin Sr., shot him dead and then proceeded to upload the video of the killing to Facebook. According to Cleveland police, the suspect claimed to have committed multiple other homicides, though that has not been verified.

During a press conference Monday, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said the search for Stephens has expanded beyond Cleveland. Residents in Pennsylvania, Michigan, New York, and Indiana are being asked to call police if they spot Stephens or his vehicle. A spokesperson for the FBI said Stephens "could be far away, could be near, or anywhere in-between."

The FBI is assisting Cleveland police with the investigation.

"We want Steven to turn himself in, but if he doesn't we will find him," Williams said.

Stephens is black, just over 6-feet tall and bald with a full beard. He is wearing a dark blue and gray or black striped polo shirt. He was driving a white Ford Fusion with a temporary tag. Police are warning residents not to approach Stephens if you see him and to call 911.
