Delco Attempted Homicide Suspect Caught After Shooting Cop

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — A police officer and man wanted for attempted homicide in Delaware County are recovering after a chase Monday night.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, Arthur Disanto Jr., 41, of Chester, was taken into custody in Deptford, New Jersey following a chase and shootings late Monday.

Disanto was wanted by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and the Pennsylvania State Police Media Barracks for attempted homicide in Middletown Township.

The incident began in Marple Township when police got a tip of Disanto's whereabouts.

Police tried to stop Disanto, who was riding a motorcycle, and he eluded police.

He was later found in Philadelphia, where he crashed the motorcycle, police said.

State police said officers shot at Disanto, who then stole a Folcroft police vehicle and drove to New Jersey, where the vehicle was later found. According to Action News, the vehicle contained SWAT gear and rifles, but the outlet reports the rifles were still in the vehicle when it was found.

New Jersey officers on scene related they had possibly located Disanto in a home.

He was eventually located by New Jersey officers and was taken into custody after shooting at police.

A police officer was shot during the incident. Action News reports the officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Disanto was also shot during the incident and is recovering.
