Man Tied Up, Robbed Adopted Mother In Delco: State Police

State Police said the man seen here is sought for the home invasion and robbery of an 80-year-old woman who is his adopted mother.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a man wanted for breaking into the home of his 80-year-old adopted mother and robbing her in Delaware County.

According to police, Christopher Dougherty is wanted for the home invasion and robbery of an 80-year-old female that occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11 in Middletown Township.

Police said Dougherty, also known as Peter Franco, forcefully entered the victim’s home armed with a hammer and bound her to a chair with duct tape.

He then stole about $1,150, the victim’s cellphone, and car keys then fled in her red 2002 Buick Century with Pennsylvania tags reading HYH-3785.

Dougherty is the adopted son of the victim and may have ties to Aston, Chester, Havertown, and Upper Darby, as well as Elkton, Maryland and Rising Sun, Maryland.

Dougherty was described by the victim as having violent tendencies, police said.

Anyone who sees Dougherty should call 911 and not approach him.
