“I knew I had to do this project because these men are running out of time to tell their stories,” McHoul said, according to the district. “Soon, the world will be left with nothing but artifacts and written accounts to tell the story of one of the most important wars in human history. I hope from this project that members of my community will be inspired to reach out to their hometown heroes and hear their stories. They are a part of history which must be preserved for future generations.”

The district said the project was inspired by Anne Henning Scheuring's Lansdale Hometown Heroes initiative.
