2022: Top News Stories On Levittown Patch

A new Wawa opened and some stores were coming near the Oxford Valley Mall. There was also a heated battle in the 142nd Legislative District.

LEVITTOWN, PA —Wawa opened another store in Levittown with plans for yet another one, and plans were approved for some new stores near the Oxford Valley Mall. The year also saw one of the most heated races in the Nov. 8 Midterm election.

Restaurants, Stores To Be Built Near Oxford Valley Mall

In late September, Middletown Township supervisors approved plans for development around the Oxford Valley Mall that would fill the void of the empty Bally's fitness center. Tenants would include two restaurants and two retail shops. Construction is expected next year.

Wawa Will Serve Beer And Gas At New Levittown Location

Wawa opened a new convenience store on 3800 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road in mid-November, the second in Bucks County to serve beer and gas. Levittown is a popular spot for Wawa locations. Falls Township also opened the first drive-through Wawa in the state in the Morrisville section on West Trenton Avenue and another Wawa is planned for early next year in Falls Township. That convenience store is under construction at 530 Lincoln Highway.

Dog's Death Leads To Animal Cruelty Charges In Middletown Township

In mid-September, the death of a dog led to animal cruelty charges against a Langhorne man, court records showed. The charges came from a Middletown Township Police investigation over the summer in which the department's animal control officer received a call about a deceased dog that had severe bruising, published reports stated.

Hogan-Moffa 142nd Legislative District Election Going Down To The Wire

It turned out to be one of the biggest Nov. 8 election races in the region with a back-and-forth battle between Republican Joseph Hogan and Democrat Mark Moffa that for a while meant a Democratic win would give Democrats majority control of the House. Hogan eventually was declared the winner.

Threats Made Against 3 Pennsbury Schools: Superintendent

Just after the school year started, Pennsbury Schools Superintendent Thomas Smith sent a letter to parents saying that a threat had been made against three township schools. After a police investigation, the threats turned out to be unsubstantiated. By the end of the year, a feasibility study was issued regarding a potential merger between Pennsbury and the Morrisville School District.
