Pa. Police Officer Expected to Survive Tuesday Shooting
A Lancaster City officer was shot around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday; the suspect is dead, police confirmed.

A 29-year-old man is dead and a police officer suffered “very serious” injuries during a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Lancaster City. “While his injuries are very serious, he is expected to survive,” Lancaster City Police said in a statement.
A Lancaster City police officer was shot around 12:30 p.m. while serving an arrest warrant.
The suspect, a 29-year-old man, refused to comply with “repeated commands” and fired a handgun at the officer after a taser was used. The officer was shot in the hand and left shoulder and was “immediately incapacitated,” according to police.

In response, another officer fired several shots at the suspect, who died at the scene.
The wounded officer was rushed to the hospital. He is “conscious, alert and stable,” according to officials.

As of Tuesday afternoon, police have not released the name of the suspect pending notification of family members.
Lancaster City Police said they came to the E. Chestnut Street residence to serve an arrest warrant stemming from a domestic assault that had happened the night before.
Police said the suspect allegedly threatened to shoot and kill his ex-girlfriend and her two young children. He also assaulted the female victim, police said.
