Local orchards facing limited apple availability due to crop-killing spring frost (audacy.com) — If you're planning a fall trip to Linvilla Orchards in Media, expect far fewer apples to pick this year after a harsh spring frost wiped out most of the crop. Apple picking is still open in limited varieties, with the orchard supplementing from other farms, while pumpkins and other produce remain plentiful for autumn visits.

Brandywine welcomes new adjunct criminology instructor (psu.edu) — Media-area readers connected to Penn State Brandywine may be interested in Jennifer Green, a longtime Delaware County criminal justice professional who just joined the campus as an adjunct criminology instructor. She brings decades of experience in public defense, prosecution, and probation, and says teaching at the Media campus is personally meaningful because of her family's deep Penn State roots.

Haverford police warn of 'phone spoofing' over jury duty (delcotimes.com) — Residents in and around Media should be on alert for scam calls that spoof local court phone numbers and falsely claim you missed jury duty, owe fines, and face arrest. Haverford police say at least one Delaware County district court serving Media and Swarthmore has even changed its number, and they urge people not to pay or share personal information over the phone.

She urges classmates to use SEPTA and short drives to enjoy orchards, scenic railroads, haunted houses, cafes, and football games before graduation and winter arrive.
   

5. N.J. man convicted of endangering motorists during high-speed chase on Blue Route (pottsmerc.com subscription) — State police from the Media barracks helped stop a 130-mph chase that raced from Montgomery County into Delaware County and toward Philadelphia, ending at the Ben Franklin Bridge. A New Jersey man was convicted of gun charges and reckless endangerment for the incident, and now awaits sentencing in county jail.
