Another Distraction Burglary Reported In Bucks County

If someone comes to your property asking to view trees or your property line, be suspicious.

Police in Bucks County are warning residents to be careful after a report of a distraction burglary earlier this week, this time in Buckingham Township. It's the second distraction burglary report in recent weeks in the area.

According to Buckingham Township police, on Oct. 10, an elderly person was approached by a man who began talking to him about cutting trees on his property line. He asked him to walk away from the house to observe the trees.

When the victim's wife returned shortly after, she noticed a large sum of money was missing from their home.

The victim described the involved vehicle as a dark colored van or SUV, according to police.

Police said the incident is very similar to one reported to police in Perkasie last month. In that case, a woman who said she was from 1-2-3 Tree Service asked the homeowner to show her the property markers in his backyard.

After the woman left, the man discovered that his office desk area had been entered and a significant amount of money was missing, police said.

The suspect in that case is described as a 35-year-old old Puerto Rican female who was wearing a fluorescent green shirt and fluorescent green baseball cap. The car was described as a newer, charcoal-colored SUV with an automatic rear hatch that was seen closing as the vehicle left the area.
