📰 News we're reading
• Fried Chicken Sandwich Shop Closing Its Doors In Bucks Co. (patch.com) — Skip's Chicken on Durham Road in Wrightstown is closing its brick-and-mortar restaurant on Sept. 1, a change that will be felt by many Newtown regulars the owners specifically thanked. The popular spot, known for gluten-free options, will keep serving the Newtown and Wrightstown area through its food trailer, while honoring gift cards through August 30 or buying them back afterward.

• Parking, Safety Concerns Raised Over Plans For Preschool In Newtown (patch.com) — Newtown Township officials are weighing a proposal to turn the former Rite Aid at Goodnoe Corner into an Apple Montessori preschool with an outdoor saltwater pool and fenced play area. Supervisors are raising safety and parking concerns about putting a 142-student school in the busy shopping center lot, and have suggested the Newtown Business Commons as an alternative while plans head back to the planning commission.

• Big Oak and Makefield Roads Signal Project Is Finished (lowerbuckstimes.com) — Lower Makefield has finished major signal and crosswalk upgrades at Big Oak and Makefield roads, improving safety for nearby Pennwood and Boehm middle school students. The same state grant also retimed lights along Yardley-Newtown Road and tied them into fiber so PennDOT's adaptive system on the Newtown Bypass can better manage traffic through the corridor.
