Beer, Wine Now Available At Newtown Acme
Do you enjoy a glass of wine or a cold beer with dinner? Then your grocery shopping just got easier. You can now buy beer and wine at Acme.
NEWTOWN, PA -- If you enjoy a cold beer or a glass of wine with dinner, your grocery shopping just got easier. The Acme in Newtown now sells beer and wine at its West Road grocery store.
The store had been under renovation to make way for the new products, which were made available over the last few days, sources tell Patch. The alcoholic products are available at the Frosted Mug cafe, located near the deli area.
Last spring, the store received liquor license transfer approval from the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors. Acme is the first Newtown grocery store to sell wine and beer under the state's expanded rules.

The Giant in New Hope and three stores in Doylestown are among the Bucks County grocery stores that already sell alcoholic beverages.
The law allowing grocery stores to sell wine and beer became effective in August. It is part of a push by lawmakers in Harrisburg to make alcohol sales more convenient in the Keystone State.
