Philadelphia Area Weekend Snow: Chances Of It Just Went Up

The chance of a weekend snow event in Eastern PA just went way up, the NWS said in a Thursday evening briefing.

As reported earlier in the week, forecasters were watching a storm system that could bring light snow to the region over the weekend.

Well the chances of that happening just went way up, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service.

The NWS now says there is a 50 percent chance we'll get accumulating snow on Saturday. A few inches could fall, according to a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued Thursday afternoon.

It would be the first snowfall of the season in Eastern Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service, which put out a Thursday briefing on the storm, says "confidence is increasing" for the snow event. The areas targeted for the most accumulation are between central Bucks County down to Philadelphia and east into New Jersey.
