First Look At The Thanksgiving Holiday Forecast For Pennsylvania

You can control the menu, but you can't control the forecast on Thanksgiving.

In just over a week, you'll likely be preparing for your Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. You can control the menu, but you can't control the forecast. And this year, it might not be a great one. (The forecast that is, we're certain your menu will be great.)

Two forecasting agencies are predicting potentially cold and stormy weather that could trigger flight delays and make travel along the East Coast a bit tricky late next week. Travelers are advised to watch the forecast as the holiday approaches.

Some parts of Eastern Pennsylvania could even see snow showers Friday, Saturday or Sunday, according to the extended forecast by The Weather Channel.

While the details on the timing and the severity of the possible storm are still unclear, a strong arctic cold front is expected to "plunge" into the East next week, The Weather Channel said. That could bring a "swath of steady rain, ice and snow in the Northeast," AccuWeather predicts.

The cold outbreak may last a couple of days, or perhaps right through the Thanksgiving weekend, AccuWeather Long-Range Meteorologist Evan Duffey said. "In terms of an East Coast storm, we are not expecting powerhouse event, but rather more of the nuisance variety," according to Duffey.

It could end up being just rain, however. Heavy precipitation is possible along the Interstate-95 corridor from Washington, D.C., to Philadelphia, and New York City around Thanksgiving Day, AccuWeather says.
