Huge Turnout, Long Lines At First-Ever Newtown Food Truck Fest

Organizers confirm there were as many as 6,000 people in attendance. There were 12 food trucks booked, plus one coffee truck.

A huge crowd turned out for the first-ever Newtown Food Truck Fest on Sunday, with some attendees reporting waiting at least an hour for food in lines of hundreds of people.

Organizers confirm there were as many as 6,000 people in attendance at the event held at Council Rock North. There were 12 food trucks booked, plus one coffee truck.

Andy Smith, an event organizer, said it was a much bigger turnout than expected. "Even the food trucks said they have never seen anything like it for a first-year event," he told Patch in an email.

Smith said between 5,000 to 6,000 people attended the event, a fundraiser for the Newtown Theatre. Organizers had planned for half that number, "which was still a lofty goal for a first-time event," Smith said.

He said next year, organizers will look to expand the festival hours and the number of food trucks.
