Newtown 12s Defeated in Quarterfinal State Championship Game
Newtown 12s fall in game to West Point.
There are more than 650 little league teams representing Pennsylvania. To make it to the elite group of the final eight teams playing for the State Championship series is quite an accomplishment. To make it to the top four is even more impressive.
While the Newtown 12s team were defeated 24-12 by West Point Wednesday in the Pennsylvania Little League State Championships, they certainly have a lot to be proud of.
Newtown came out Wednesday evening ready to play. So did West Point. In the second inning, West Point broke the game open. Atypical Newtown errors, combined with incredible West Point bats led to a 17-run lead.

Newtown did not give up, though. Most fans watching the game knew the depth and strength of this Newtown team. Many, if not all, expected Newtown to come back and defeat West Point.
Even though West Point increased their lead to 24 runs by the third inning, Newtown never gave up. In the fourth inning, when Newtown bats came alive and scored 12 runs, West Point fans were on the edge of their seats.

However, in the end, it wasn't Newtown's day. West Point won 24-12.
This Council Rock Newtown 12 team has a history of excellence. In 2009, they were state champions. In 2010, they were the second best little league team in Pennsylvania. And now, in 2011, to wrap up their incredible little league career, the team finished in fourth place.
This is the first Council Rock Little League team that has finished in the top four teams in the state for three years in a row.
