The photo, taken on June 16 by photojournalist Harrison Jones at the Pennsylvania State Memorial in Gettysburg, certainly looked like a UFO landing. It drew attention far and wide, and was the subject of a story by The Washington Post.

As The Washington Post reports, the image is not evidence of extraterrestrial life coming to check out the historic battlefield, but rather merely "perspective" captured on camera.
The Post writes in its Capital Weather Gang blog:
There was a very tall cloud — probably a cumulonimbus — that was building right along the horizon as the sun was setting. Instead of the cloud casting a shadow toward Earth, like it would had the sun been overhead, it was casting the shadow upward.
The illusion in the sky that evening was seen beyond Pennsylvania. A Maryland photographer also captured it from afar in this photo submitted to the Washington Post.
It wasn't the first time in recent days people thought aliens were coming for a visit to the Keystone State.
The National UFO Reporting Center, which keeps a website of UFO reports, says there have been eight possible sightings in Pennsylvania in May and June. The most recent was reported June 20 in Willow Grove, when a resident said they saw a "silver sphere going in and out of clouds" for about five minutes.
