Snowy Super Bowl Sunday Possible In Philadelphia Region

This morning, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, which means six more weeks of winter. And based on the current forecast, that little rodent might be onto something.

Some winter weather is in the forecast for the weekend across the Philadelphia region, and could continue through next week.

First, let's discuss this weekend. For obvious reasons, this weekend is a BIG weekend in Philadelphia. But before you head out for that Super Bowl party (go birds!), you'll want to check the forecast.

The National Weather Service is currently predicting a snowy, slushy mess that will hopefully clear up by game time.

Snow is likely Sunday morning and it should switch to rain around noon. A mix of snow and rain is expected again overnight. When all is said and done, snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible, the National Weather Service predicts.

Be careful heading home from those parties, roadways could be slippery.

Forecasters are also watching another system next week that could bring snow on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.

Tuesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 34.

Tuesday Night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: Rain and snow likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 26. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 33.
