Explosion Investigation Continues In Northampton Twp.
Northampton Twp. Police said that social media posts are misleading about the origin of last Saturday's "boom" heard in Lower Bucks County.
NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —One week after a "boom" was reported, the Northampton Township Police Department and the Bucks County District Attorney's Office still do not know the cause of the explosion.
Northampton Township Police said over the weekend that investigators are still working to determine the origin of the "loud explosion" last Saturday night.
Police said that misleading information is being posted on social media concerning the incident and the cause.

"We appreciate the community's assistance in this matter and only posting information that is factual," police said.
Manuel Gamiz, communications director with the Bucks County District Attorney's Office, said that he had no update on the investigation.

The "boom" was heard throughout Lower Bucks County around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Dispatchers with the Bucks County 911 Center received at least 75 calls about the explosion. A Bucks County drone team was sent out last Saturday night and Sunday morning. The Bucks County Rangers are also investigating.
Some members of the Northampton Facebook page reported seeing a flash in the sky followed by what one resident said may have been a "sonic" boom.
There were reports on social media of people hearing the boom throughout Lower Bucks County, including Newtown, Lower Makefield Township, Levittown, and Bensalem Township.
