AR-15 Found At Home In Center Of Philly Cop Shooting: Reports

PHILADELPHIA — Authorities found an AR-15 rifle at the scene of the hours-long standoff and shooting in Philadelphia's Nicetown section Wednesday.

According to Action News, investigators took an AR-15 from the home alleged gunman Maurice Hill was holed up in on the 3700 block of North 15th Street.

The rifle is thought to have been the weapon that Hill allegedly shot six police officers with. All those officers were released from hospitals Wednesday night.

AR-15 rifles are controversial weapons in the United States, having been used in mass shootings such as those in Sandy Hook, Parkland, and Dayton.

CBS Philadelphia reports Hill also had a handgun on him.

Police released the names of those six officers. They are:

• Joshua Burkitt, 26, a two-year veteran, assigned to the 24th District. Suffered a gunshot wound to the left hand.
• Michael Guinter, 32, a 12-year veteran, assigned to the Narcotics Strike Force. Suffered a gunshot wounds to both arms.
• Shaun Parker, 32, an 11-year veteran, assigned to the Narcotics Strike Force. Suffered a graze wound to the head.
• Officer Nathaniel Harper, 43, a 19-year veteran, assigned to the Narcotics Strike Force. Suffered a gunshot wound to the left leg.
• Ryan Waltman, 42, a 12-year veteran, assigned to the 39th District. Suffered a gunshot wound to the left hand.
• Justin Matthews, 31, a three-year veteran, assigned to the 16th District. Suffered a graze wound to the left leg.

District Attorney Larry Krasner said Hill could face charges of attempted murder, assault, and firearms violations in connection with the shooting.
