And keeping up with the spirit of Philadelphia grit, the controversial new mascot got into a tussle in New York City last night with "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon and British comedian Ricky Gervais.

In the cold open for the "Tonight Show" Thursday night, Fallon and Gervais were dancing to "Mowtownphilly" by Philly's own Boyz II Men.

While the pair are dancing, the fuzzy, orange mascot appears behind the pair then joins in on the fun.

But, Gritty showed his grit when Gervais tried to shoo him away. Gervais being British makes it all the better, considering back in the 1700s it was here in Philly we decided we had enough of the English and kicked them out.

Gritty posted photos of his trip to Rockefeller Center on his Instagram page, which are included below. He even got to hang with some of the guys from Philly's own The Roots, who are Fallon's in-house band.

Gritty was revealed to the public Monday then made his first Flyers game appearance that night.
