Major Changes Afoot For Pittsburgh's Bakery Square Food Hall

PITTSBURGH, PA — Galley at Bakery Square will become City Kitchen at Bakery Square under plans announced Monday by Walnut Capital, which owns the complex in the city's East End.

Walnut has entered into a new management agreement with Shaka Restaurant Group to operated the rotating four-kitchen restaurant and full bar. Shaka already operates two of the four eateries, Somi and Elevate; plans are afoot to add Hawaiian fusion and an elevated burger concept to the space.

Additionally, one kitchen will rotate on a pop-up basis, the first of which will feature Peruvian offerings.

“We have bold plans to bring customers more fresh, local and innovative culinary options, while streamlining operations to make ordering easier, wait times shorter, and the overall experience more seamless and inviting,” Shaka CEO Hoa Li said in a release.
