Accused Roxborough Gunman Among Philly's Most Wanted, $50K Offered

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — Authorities in Philadelphia are once again putting out a call for assistance in finding the teenager accused of the deadly shooting outside Roxborough High School last September.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office said Dayron Burney-Thorn, 16, is still at large and is wanted for his role in the Sept. 27, 2022 shooting outside of Roxborough High School.

Burney-Thorn is accused of shooting and killing 14-year-old Nicolas Elizade, of Havertown.

The shooting also hurt four others who were leaving a football scrimmage.

The U.S. Marshals Service’s added $5,000 to reward money being offered to bring Burney-Thorn into custody, bringing the current total reward amount to $50,000.

The $10,000 offered by the Marshals Service will be paid immediately upon Burney-Thorn's arrest, authorities said.

He is also implicated in the fatal shooting of 19-year-old Tahmir Jones the day before the Roxborough shooting on the 640 block of N. 13th Street.

Four others — Saleem Miller, 16, Troy Fletcher, 15, Yaaseen Bivins, 21, and Zyheid Jones, 17 — were all taken into custody in connection with the Roxborough shooting.

Miller, Fletcher, Bivins, and Jones are charged with murder, firearms violations, attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Burney-Thorn is 6 feet 3 inches and weighs about 215 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

His last known address was in the 2900 block of Bambrey Street in Philadelphia.

Authorities said in November 2022, Burney- Thorn was hiding in the Atlanta, Georgia, area.

U.S. Marshals in Georgia are also seeking help from the public and the local media in an attempt to locate Burney- Thorn.
