Accused Roxborough High School Shooters' Hearings Postponed

Three of the teens accused of the deadly September 2022 shooting could have their cases moved from adult court to juvenile court.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — Three teenagers accused of the fatal shooting outside Roxborough High School in September 2022 could have their cases moved from adult court to juvenile court.

Saleem Miller, 16, Troy Fletcher, 15, and Zyheid Jones, 17, were all scheduled for decertification hearings Thursday.

At decertification hearings, judges decide if it is in the public interest to send cases to juvenile court.

However, their hearings were postponed to late June, court records show.

Yaaseen Bivins, 21, was scheduled for a pre-trial conference Thursday in connection with the shooting that killed 14-year-old Nicolas Elizalde, of Havertown, and hurt four other teens who were leaving a football scrimmage at Roxborough High School on the afternoon of Sept. 27.

Bivins' case was also postponed to June.

Miller, Fletcher, Bivins, and Jones are charged with murder, firearms violations, attempted murder, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Bivins in August was found guilty on charges related to a July 2020 crash that injured a woman and killed her unborn child and was out on bail when the deadly shooting occurred, court records show.

And Fletcher, Jones, 17, and Burney-Thorne, are all implicated in the shooting death of 19-year-old Tahmir Jones on Sept. 26, 2022.
